Gatlinburg, TN (PRWEB) May 2, 2005 -- Auntie Belham's Realty and Nightly Rentals regrets that President George Bush could not enjoy the comfort and convenience of our Gatlinburg Cabins while visiting Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park for Earth Day on April 22, 2005.
The event was scheduled during National Volunteer Week and National Park Week as well as on the 35th annual Earth Day. The President was expected to be touring the Cades Cove area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, near Townsend, Tennessee and to assist local volunteers with a trail restoration project.
A major thunderstorm, high winds, and threats of hail caused the trip to be cancelled. Air Force One made a brief stop at McGhee Tyson Airport outside Knoxville, Tennessee but that is a poor substitute for an actual visit to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Although the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited national park, no sitting president has visited the park since Franklin Roosevelt dedicated it in 1940.
Auntie Belham's Realty and Nightly Rentals extends an invitation to President George W. Bush to return to Tennessee at his convenience to visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
