First Nomination Leads to Top International Honor
Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) May 6, 2005 -- WhatIfSports, an industry leader in sports simulation and gaming technology, today announced it has been honored with the prestigious Webby Award as the best Sports Website for 2005. Presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, the Webby Award honors excellence in web design, creativity, usability and functionality.
A panel of industry experts narrowed down 4,300 entries down to five finalists in each category. Perennial heavyweights ESPN.com and BBCSports.com both made this years list of finalists in the Sports category. With the win, WhatIfSports joins past Webby Award winners such as ESPN.com, Sportsline.com, Amazon.com, eBay, Yahoo!, iTunes, Google and The New York Times.
This latest industry accolade for WhatIfSports comes on the heels of winning the Fantasy Sports Trade Association Award for Most Unique Fantasy Service in March.
"Our company works unbelievably hard at continuous innovation. Recognition from our esteemed industry peers really helps validate the amount of blood, sweat and tears its taken to build WhatIfSports," said Tarek Kamil, President and Founder of WhatIfSports. "We feel as though a large part of our success comes from the community of very loyal and passionate sports fans weve built over the years. Any awards we receive are as much a reflection of them as it is on us."
"The 9th Annual Webby Awards provide both a remarkable snapshot of digital life today and a powerful sneak preview of where we are going next," said Tiffany Shlain, creative director and chairperson of The Webby Awards. "We're proud to shine a spotlight on outstanding sites like WhatIfSports."
