A new Web site with history, demographics and facts about the state of Indiana has been launched online for Internet researchers at http://www.indianausaweb.com.
(PRWEB) May 16, 2005 -- A new Web site with information about the state of Indiana has been launched today (www.indianausaweb.com).
"The small informational site is one of a series of state-related Web sites which can inform Web surfers about the states, and provide some interesting statistics to online researchers," says Gilbert, the owner of the site.
"Indiana may be best known for the Hoosiers basketball teams or the 'Indianapolis 500' called the 'Indy 500, but there is much more to the state," he says.
The new Web site contains different sections of information.
The first section outlines the history of the state, which starts with the pre-European inhabitants of the state. The specific Native American tribes that inhabited this territory at that time were primarily the Miami and the Shawnee.
There are also tidbits on the laws, government and economy of the state, including the following facts:
*In 1999, the total gross state product was $182 billion, placing Indiana 15th in the nation.
*Indiana is located in the "Corn Belt," and the state's agricultural methods and principal farm outputs reflect this growing area. While the state is within the Corn Belt, the original land was not a prairie and had to be cleared of tons of trees. This has left some remaining isolated parcels of woodland; so much of the southern, hilly portion of the state is heavily forested.
*The economy in Indiana has a feedlot-style system for raising corn, which is in turn used to fatten up hogs and cattle (both in state and for livestock of other states).
For researchers, there are some statistics on information such as religious demographics. The religious demographics are split into these categories: Protestant, Roman Catholic, Other Christian, Other Religions and Non-Religious.
