Dr. Ajayan received his BT in Metallurgical Engineering at Banaras, India and his PhD in Materials Science/Engineering from Northwestern University. He is currently professor at Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Past research positions include Max-Planck-Institute, NEC and Laboratoire de Physique des Solids.
He has received the National Science Foundation CAREER Award; Burton Award the Microscopy Society of America; Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship; and Presidential Student Award. He serves as editorial board member of Advanced Materials, Zeitschrift fur Metallkunde, TIP Revista Especialzada en Quimico-Biologicas and Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.
He joins SAB Chairman, Erkki Ruoslahti, MD, PhD, Sangeeta Bhatia, MD, PhD, Evelyn Hu, PhD, and Reza Ghadiri, PhD on our renowned panel of advisors.
