The technical college supports celebrations of diversity with involvement in the end of slavery festivities.
Minneapolis (PRWEB) June 17, 2005 -- The Twin Cities annual Juneteenth Celebration and Festival on June 18, 2005 is the largest event of its kind in the Upper Midwest. The festival will be held from 11am to 7pm at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis and this years theme is Its A Family Affair."
Brown College, a provider of career education at http://www.browncollege.edu, will be part of the celebration reaching out to festival-goers with important resources on careers and education. The college is located in Twin Cities with two campuses - one in Mendota Heights, and the other in Brooklyn Center.
Brown College staff hopes to reach out to families with recent high schools grads ready to make important career decisions and others who are currently considering training in a new career. They will be on hand to discuss subjects such as how to find the perfect career, making educational choices that affect how to achieve goals and other important career education decisions.
Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration of the end of slavery in the United States. Since its inception on June 19th in 1865, when Union soldiers led by Major General Gordon Granger landed in Galveston, Texas, with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free, communities across the US have been celebrating that long-awaited news.
Dr. Alan Stutts, the President of Brown College, feels that the colleges involvement in such activities aligns with and fortifies the school's achievements.
