Rotary Club of Amherst East Donates $2,000 to Two Local Causes

The Rotary Club of Amherst East, New York, donated $1,000 each to Vive la Casa and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo.

(PRWEB) June 28, 2005 -- The Rotary Club of Amherst East donated $1,000 to both Vive, Inc. and to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo, at a recent Rotary lunch meeting.

Tom Petrocelli, president of the board of Vive, Inc., and Diane Rowe, chief professional officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo each received a $1,000 check to support their organizations from Paul McAfee, president of the Rotary Club of Amherst East.

This month, we wrap-up the celebration of Rotarys 100th anniversary," said Paul McAfee, president of the Rotary Club of Amherst East. We celebrated this important event by raising money with a raffle to support Vive, Inc.s, Vive la Casa, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo."

The Rotary Club of Amherst East raises money through its many annual events to provide support for international and local causes. As a volunteer organization with over 31,000 clubs in more than 166 countries, Rotary initiates humanitarian programs that address today's challenging issues, such as hunger, poverty, and illiteracy.

Rotary club members represent a cross-section of business and professional leaders worldwide. These 1.2 million men and women donate their expertise, time, and money to support local and international projects that help people in need and promote understanding among cultures.

Paul P. Harris formed the world's first service club, the Rotary Club of Chicago, Ill., on February 23, 1905. The name "Rotary" is derived from the early practice of rotating meetings among members' offices. The Rotary Club of Amherst East is part of Rotary International.

The Amherst East Rotary Club meets at noon on Thursdays at Daffodils Restaurant on Maple Road, Amherst, NY. The clubs Web site is www.amhersteastrotary.org.
