The National Safety Commission and Lowest Price Traffic School are calling on all Americans to remember the importance of safe driving practices during this heavily traveled holiday weekend.

NSC's July 4th Weekend Awareness Campaign urges adult and teen drivers to be extra vigilant this holiday week-end.
Statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) rank July 4th as one of the deadliest holidays for traffic related deaths. Historically, over 600 people are killed each year in automobile accidents on July 4th, half of which are the result of alcohol related crashes.
"The number of crash fatalities that will occur on July 4th is more than all of the confirmed, unprovoked shark attack fatalities ever recorded worldwide," says NSC President Ken Underwood.
Here are some simple things you can do to keep from being a statistic:
1. Wear a seat belt.
2. Volunteer to be a designated driver.
3. Be aware of distractions, including cell phone usage.
4. Take a break at the first sign of drowsiness.
