National Law Firm Representing Recipients of Recalled Guidant Defibrillators Assures Prescribing Doctors They Will Not Be Sued

Doctors assured they will not be sued by leading national law firm for clients' injuries due to recalled defective Guidant defibrillators.

(PRWEB) July 7, 2005 -- The Johnson Law Firm, which represents clients from around the world with recalled Guidant defibrillators, today assured doctors and several cardiology practice groups that they will not be sued by the firm for the injuries their patients may have suffered due to the defective Guidant defibrillators.

"We will not sue our clients' doctors" stated firm founder Steven Johnson, It is a common practice by many lawyers to sue the doctors in these cases just because they may have insurance policies. The Johnson Law Firm will not sue the doctors in these cases because we believe the doctors are blameless. No doctor would have knowingly installed a defective defibrillator. Only Guidant is responsible for the damages in these cases and we will hold them accountable exclusively for 100% our clients damages. "

Guidant has recalled nearly 50,000 of its cardiac defibrillators because of defects that may cause the product to short-circuit thereby leading to serious injury and death.

On July 2, 2005 New York Times writer Barry Meier wrote, Guidant did not tell doctors for years that these units had repeatedly short-circuited and kept selling potentially flawed units out of inventory after it had started selling an improved version."

It has been reported that approximately 38,000 Guidant defibrillators have been implanted in patients in the United States. The following is a list of the defective Guidant implant models:

  • Prizm 2 DR
  • Contak Renewal
  • Contak Renewal 2
  • Ventak Prizm AVT
  • Vitality AVT
  • Renewal 3 AVT
  • Renewal 4 AVT ICDs

Patients implanted with a Guidant defibrillator or
pacemaker should immediately contact The Johnson Law Firm for a free claim evaluation at toll free
