Photojournalist David Bathgate has joined other world-class photographers as an instructor at BetterPhoto.com. REDMOND, Washington (PRWEB) July 13, 2005 -- BetterPhoto.com, the worldwide leader in online photography education, today announced that renowned photojournalist and former anthropology professor David Bathgate has joined BetterPhoto to teach a new course, "Photojournalism: Telling the Story in Pictures". This course, which begins July 6 and is targeted at the serious hobbyist to intermediate photographer, will teach students to look deeper to uncover the facts and then present them in an informative and creative way.

"We're excited to have David on board," said Jim Miotke, president of BetterPhoto.com. "His mix of knowledge and incredible experience with a friendly and laid-back style fits right in with our other instructors and the goals of our community."

David is based in Europe but spends most of his time in Asia and the Middle East as a prolific contributor for over 10 years for international news and photo agency Corbis (his work has appeared in Time Asia, The London Sunday Times Magazine, and Focus). He also conducts regular photography workshops near the Dalai Lamas Tibetan Government in Exile in the north of India, advises young Tibetan photographers and helps train future professional visual journalists in Afghanistan and Bangladesh, in addition to teaching online classes in photojournalism, from wherever he's located, on BetterPhoto.com.

The "Photojournalism: Telling the Story in Pictures" course will cover topics including selecting stories with viewer interest and visual potential, establishing trust to gain an insider view, the "grammar" of visual storytelling, and pitching to a publisher.
