Motorcops.com announces the first survey in 10 years about Police Motorcycle Units. Although police motorcycles are one of the most visible units of any department, very little information has ever been gathered on a national level. This comprehensive survey will collect data in six categories.

Although police motorcycles are one of the most visible units of any department, very little information has ever been gathered on a national level. This comprehensive survey will collect data in six categories:
* Department Information
* Officer Overview
* Officer Duties
* Equipment Information
* Accidents
* Training Overview
The last survey was done in 1994 by Jim Polan, a Captain with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. "The safety survey I did provided some valuable information," Polan said. "As the departments motorcycle instructor, it was a great way to identify trends that were happening, and then share this information through my classes. The survey now on the Motorcops.com web site goes beyond what was done in the '90s," Polan added.
According to Mark Kopang, owner of Motorcops.com, "It was exciting when Jim approached me about doing a survey. His idea fit perfectly into the goals I had for the Motorcops.com web site. So far, the survey response has been very positive. In just the first few weeks more than 200 departments across the United States have taken the survey."
"In developing the survey, it was important to have some historical context, as well as try to answer some of the questions coming into the web site. With the help of Sergeant Allan Attanasio from the Mountainside, NJ, Police Department and Bob Foreman with Harley-Davidson, I think weve met our objectives thus far," Kopang added.
"The survey also ensures that accurate information is being relayed to government officials as well as the public when the question of establishing or maintaining a motorcycle squad within a police department is researched," said Sergeant Attansio.
Visit http://www.motorcops.com/survey to take the police motorcycle survey for your department. Even if your department does not have a motorcycle unit, there are still applicable questions.
Initial results will be posted on the Motorcops.com web site in August.
