AP9 TodaysEscapes Helps Members Save on Hotels, Car Rentals, Airfare and More

Stamford, CONN. (PRWEB) July 27, 2005 -- Most hotel guests know theyre going to have to pay for using the mini-bar, but it has become common for hotels to charge other extra fees they neglect to mention when reservations are made, reports AP9 TodaysEscapes, a premier travel and entertainment savings program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC. AP9 TodaysEscapes helps members find competitive hotel rates, airfare, rental cars and more, so members can plan vacations affordably and within their budgets.

While phone call and mini-bar charges are expected nowadays, there are other, unexpected charges that can pop up at check-out. AP9 TodaysEscapes encourages travelers to ask questions before checking in or when making the reservation by phone, and to read the fine print when booking online. If your room or vacation package is already booked, dont be afraid to ask about possible fees when checking in and especially when checking out, should an extra fee appear unexpectedly. Sometimes you can have extra charges removed.

To help you stay within budget during vacations, AP9 TodaysEscapes offers some tips on dealing with possible hidden hotel fees, including:

-- Internet access: Even hotels that advertise free Internet access sometimes charge for the length of the connection. Ask if the hotel has an Internet room with free access for all or if the connection is made from the room and charged by the minute.
-- Technology fees: Some hotels charge up to $3 a day for the use of cable TV and phones. Make sure you ask whether youll be charged for every local call, including connection to a toll-free number.
-- Early arrival fee: Hotels have a regular check-in time, and some hotels wont let you into your room beforehand, even if your room is ready, unless you pay a little extra. Ask what the standard check-in and check-out times are, and plan your trip accordingly.
-- Resort fees: Some hotels include extra charges for amenities like a pool, golf course and fitness center. If you booked a package that advertised those amenities as included, you shouldnt pay an extra fee. When booking a room, find out if there are charges for those amenities even if you dont use them.
-- Bellhops and housekeeping: Sometimes youll find an extra charge on your bill for these services, detailed as already-included tips. There might also be a charge for room-service delivery as well as a 15% gratuity included on the meals check.
-- Other surprises: Other hidden fees you might want to inquire about include beach towels, daily parking (even if you are not using a rental car), mini-bar restocking, holding or receiving packages at the reception desk, and packets of coffee or tea bags (the coffeemaker might be complimentary).
