On August 6th at the Arts Exchange, the concerned and outraged people of Metro Atlanta have the opportunity to come and offer their support and money to bring justice to the Bernard Burden case. There will be a fundraiser, featuring local musical talent, poets, and speakers that have answered the call, and are willing to stand for justice. Everyone that believes in the spirit of freedom, justice, and equality is encouraged to come out and support this effort.

Atlanta (PRWEB) July 28, 2005 -- August 6th will be almost 10 months since our brother was found hanging from a tree in the yard of a white family in Coweta County, Georgia. Ten months since the coroner, not the police department, investigated the crime scene and deemed Bernard Brudens death a suicide and removed his body without the police department doing an investigation.
August 6th will be almost 10 months since a grieving mother has been crying out for justice, answers, and assistance, with very few people answering her call. August 6th will be the opportunity for the spirit of justice to begin to manifest in the case of Bernard Burdens lynching.
For 10 months, Bernard Burdens mother, Tamathy Pless has been fighting the battle for justice to no avail. She has written letters, sent emails, prepared and sent out disturbing pictures of her son laying dead with a noose around his neck, all with the hopes of stirring the feelings of outrage that she lives with daily.
On the morning of October 13th, 2004, at approximately 9:30am, Ms. Pless nightmare began with a call at her place of employment from the police. Little did she know that her life would forever be changed. She rushed home to be told by her sons probation officer, not the police, that Bernard was found dead, hanging from a tree, with a noose around his neck.
However, this grieving mother was stripped of the opportunity to identify or even view her sons body until eight days after his death! She was told two hours after being notified of his death, that the coroners office concluded his death to be a suicide, and there would be no investigation. This was just the beginning of the blatant disregard for justice. This was just the beginning of the blatant disrespect for this grieving mother.
Today, this battle for justice has specific goals that must be achieved. This is not a battle that only one person can fight, nor should anyone have to fight it alone. We as a community should be outraged at what has taken place, and stand by Ms. Pless in pursuit of answers to the many contradictions surrounding this case. In order for the process of truth prevailing to begin, we are in need of a lawyer, private investigator, Bernards body exhumed, and a private autopsy performed. Of course, in order for these goals to be achieved, we need money.
August 6th, 4:00pm, at the Arts Exchange (750 Kalb Street, Atlanta, GA 30312) , the concerned and outraged people of Metro Atlanta have the opportunity to come and offer there support and money to bring justice to this outrage.
