David and I grew up here and are excited to see the things that are happening in Hagerstown," said Norma. There are street vendors, concerts, and outdoor entertainment almost everyday, and many new shops and restaurants, as well."
DatAchieve offers new media services including digital publishing and web design, development, and hosting to small businesses, medical practices, and healthcare providers.
We were a little concerned at first about moving into an older building," said David Layton. Were located at 4 West Washington Street, the first lot laid out by Jonathan Hager, so we knew the building wasnt designed with Internet access in mind. Fortunately the wiring and upgrades had been completed before we moved in and it has turned out to be a great space."
In researching the buildings past, Norma and David found out that they were not the first Hi-tech business to occupy their office.
It turns out that an early and prominent photographic studio was located here in the mid- to late 1800s," said Norma.
Adds David, We found an advertisement for B.W.T. Phreaner, Photographer, in the 1893 Hagerstown Directory and have one of his prints in the office. Its nice to know that another creative business found success here in the hustle and bustle of an earlier Hagerstown."
