Duped By Love? Unlucky with the Ladies or the Gents? Don't Get Mad; Get Literary

1534 Press is releasing the new novel, DUPED BY LOVE, a comic story about the antics of a thirty-something femme trying to find love in Atlanta, GA.

ATLANTA, GA (PRWEB) August 13, 2005 -- (http://www.dupedbylove.com) 1534 Press is releasing the new novel, DUPED BY LOVE, a comic story about the antics of a thirty-something femme trying to find love in Atlanta, GA. According to a recent study done by the research firm Sperlings BestPlaces, Atlanta is the seventh worst city in the nation for dating. At a time when even the rich and successful are being duped (Jennifer Aniston, Terry McMillan), that distinction is pretty bad news for the scores of single available women in the city that frequent night spots, sign up for dating services, and scour the Internet looking to find love.

DUPED BY LOVE chronicles several years in the life of Shelby Stewart, a single mother and divorcee, who lives and works in the 'city too busy to hate.' The story follows her as she tries every dating vehicle she can think of to find love, and the hilarity that results.

The author, Patricia Wilson-Smith, a self-proclaimed 'dupe-ee,' got the idea for the book after a particularly bad experience with a man she met online, whom she says absconded with a large sum of her money, leaving her high and dry.

The book is far from a sad retelling of her story, however -- in it she lampoons everything from the current myriad of dating reality shows, to what Miss Smith calls the 'perfect, perky' people who star in television ads for dating services like e-Harmony.com.

"Don't get me wrong - there is nothing funny about being duped. Believe me, I know. I thought it was just about time that someone shed some light on the dating stories of the real women in America. It's not my fault that mine all happen to be funny. I guess funny doesn't make good reality TV."

Though Ms. Smith admits that writing DUPED BY LOVE, was a liberating experience, she says that actually being duped was anything but, and offers practical advice for singles looking for love, especially online. She offers the following,

Five Don'ts for Successful Online Dating:

Number 1: Dont allow loneliness to drive your dating decisions
Number 2: Dont compromise your anonymity, ever!
Number 3: Dont neglect to avail yourself of the variety of instant background checks obtainable via the Internet
Number 4: Dont be afraid to do your own research
Number 5: Dont be afraid to bow out if someone seems too good to be true
