Neoporte Inc., designers and manufacturers of modern, innovative entry systems, is excited to announce its sponsorship of two teams competing in the 2005 Solar Decathlon, which will debut in the form of a "Solar Village" at the National Mall in Washington D.C. on October 6.

Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) August 13, 2005 -- Neoporte Inc., designers and manufacturers of modern, innovative entry systems, is excited to announce its sponsorship of two teams competing in the 2005 Solar Decathlon, which will debut in the form of a "Solar Village" at the National Mall in Washington D.C. on October 6.

As a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, Neoporte is dedicated to the use of sustainable, renewable, recyclable materials in an effort to preserve our environment and promote green building. Neoporte's environmentally responsible approach attracted the Solar Decathlon teams from both Cornell University as well as the University of Texas at Austin. Neoporte is proud to contribute to the construction of the Solar Village by donating its stainless steel entry door systems to both teams.

The Solar Decathlon, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, the American Institute of Architects and the National Association of Home Builders among others, brings 18 college and university teams from around the globe to see which team can design, build and operate the most attractive, effective, and energy-efficient solar-powered house.

Each team is responsible for researching and locating all materials and products specified in their solar home. Given the stringent criteria for this competition, Neoporte was the ideal choice for these teams. Using heavy gauge stainless steel with a thermal insulating core, each Neoporte has a thermal rating that exceeds Energy Star standards, and is impervious to weathering, UV degradation and structural decomposition.
Unlike other door companies, Neoporte delivers each product as an integrated solution complete with all components necessary for installation. Accordingly, both teams have the advantage of receiving the door, its frame, custom glass and all additional pre-installed hardware from one quality-driven source.

The two teams sponsored by Neoporte will install different door designs, as specified by the students. Neoporte will donate its Lumen model with one sidelite, featuring a unique "privacy glass" that alternates from clear to opaque to U.T. Austins team. Cornell will install Neoporte's Sideshow model featuring a "Solarban Low-E" glass. Both teams will implement double-pane insulated glass units to achieve optimal thermal ratings.

The Solar Village will be open to the public at the National Mall October 7-16, 2005. The teams' houses will be open for touring everyday except October 12, when they will close for competition purposes.

Neoporte Modern Doors Showroom is located at 1550 18th Street in Santa Monica. For more information, visit www.neoporte.com or contact Neoporte toll free at 877-711-2100. For more information on the 2005 Solar Decathlon, visit http://www.eere.energy.gov/solar_decathlon/.
