The 2004 USA presidential election introduced the terms "red states" and "blue states", in large part due to the widespread use of real-time, color-coded flash maps on news media websites. MapGUI was the only off-the-shelf flash map module used by a major American news network to display election results as they arrived, flawlessly serving millions of page hits on election night. MapGUI has continued to lead the growing market for customizable flash maps with the announcement of the MapGUI v2.0 release.

Orange, MA (PRWEB) August 15, 2005-- Accelerize New Media announced today the release of MapGUI v2.0, the latest edition of their customizable Flash Map modules for websites and applications. MapGUI v2.0 is available in USA, Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Africa and Australia editions.

The 2004 USA presidential election introduced the terms "red states" and "blue states", in large part due to the widespread use of real-time, color-coded flash maps on news media websites. While most of those maps were custom built for the election, MapGUI was the only off-the-shelf flash map module used by a major American news network to display election results as they arrived, flawlessly serving millions of page hits on election night. As public demand for interactive maps has increased post-election, MapGUI has continued to lead the growing market for customizable flash maps with the new v2.0 release.

With MapGUI v2.0, developers can create elegant charts, powerful interactive directories and intuitive interfaces with a highly customizable Flash Map. Each State and Country in MapGUI v2.0 is a programmable button with click events and click values, customizable on/off colors and alpha settings, and HTML-ready tooltips that can contain real-time data, links to other pages, images and even Flash movies. MapGUI v2.0 file size is only ~40k and installs on a website in minutes. No Flash programming experience is required.

"The widespread use of flash maps by news media during the 2004 election higlights the popularity and intuitive nature of map-based applications." said Chris Meredith, President of Accelerize New Media. "MapGUI v2.0 is the developer's essential tool for creating a wide variety of flash map graphical interfaces with ease."

MapGUI v2.0 introduces a complete API to allow map customization at runtime without a return trip to the server. The API can be accessed via client-side script. This allows for limitless configuration possibilities and seamless user experience.

MapGUI v2.0 offers a new hotspot feature that enables developers to add their own customized buttons anywhere on the Flash map. The hotspots can be built-in shapes (star, circle, square, triangle), images and even Flash movies. Hotspots are clickable, have their own click value, and support HTML-ready tooltips.

MapGUI v2.0 is compatible with all data sources such as databases (SQL Server, Oracle, mySQL, etc), XML, and Text files. MapGUI v2.0 is compatible with all scripting languages including ASP, JSP, Cold Fusion, JavaScript and more.

Also available is MapGUI Lite v1.3 in USA and Europe Editions.

MapGUI v2.0 requires the Flash 7 or higher browser plug-in, which is a free download available from Macromedia, Inc. at http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer/. MapGUI Lite v1.3 requires the Flash 6 or higher browser plug-in.
