Get ready - here it comes. Amazing Venues, great performances, art adventures! A truly city-wide this year more shows then ever in the Philly Fringe. For families, there is a special performance by Music & Motion Dance entitled, ELEMENTS, which is a must see this year.
(PRWEB) August 29, 2005 -- The Philly Fringe serves as a collective home for artists bringing their work to audiences in every conceivable form - in traditional and untraditional venues using new artistic form and established ones, breaking rules or refining them. For those seeking performances suitable for the whole family, be sure to catch Music & Motion Dance Productions - Elements.
Music & Motion Dance will appear at the start of the festival on September 2nd & 3rd at 8PM at the National Constitution Center, 525 Arch Street, Philadelphia. What makes this performance different? Fourteen female dancers, ages 14 to 18, have collaborated in an artistic vision joining together the roots of our planet, of our spirits and each other. ELEMENTS, explores the four elements of antiquity - earth, water, air and fire. Humorous and abstract pieces offer a kaleidoscope of movement inspired by these ancient elements. The performance is fast paced, inspiring and a visual spectacle, even for those not accustomed to viewing dance.
The development of "Elements" has marked a milestone for this company, now in its fifth year. It will also be the second appearance by what is one of the youngest performance groups at the Philly Fringe. Over twenty new dance pieces have been created for presentation at Fringe 2005. The rather striking and varied choreography was formed by the entire dance company and represents a true feast for the senses. Each element is portrayed with a mixture of dance styles ranging from classical ballet to more eclectic mixtures of modern, lyrical, hip-hop and acrobatic.
Music & Motion Dance Productions is a non-profit corporation, which is both owned and operated by teens with mentoring from outside corporations and individuals. It is a group of pre-professional dancers ages fourteen through eighteen, who have expressed an interest in pursuing dance and the performing arts. Under the artistic direction of Steven Weisz, this groups mission has been to empower young people through dance and creative collaboration in the performing arts, building self-esteem and inspiring self-expression and community action.
To that end, Music & Motion performs locally and in surrounding communities throughout the year, as well as performances in a fully professional atmosphere presented for corporations, museums, gardens, and live arts related venues. Music & Motion fulfills the need for providing young dancers with performing experience in a nurturing environment, while continually exciting audiences wherever they perform. The collaborative efforts of the entire company create a synergy rich in imagination, celebration and spirit.
