American Artists Mattison Fitzgerald and Former Sports Illustrated Photographer Tim O'Dell Call for Public to Support Gulf Coast Artists and Museums through the establish foundation at the American Association of Museums.

(PRWEB) September 5, 2005 -- American Artists today called for the public to remember the cultural employees, artists and museums of this wonderfully historic and creative region of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.

"We are extremely concerned with preserving the jobs of cultural workers and direction of the arts and future of the historic New Orleans Region and gulf coast regions," says Tim O'dell former NBA Sports Illustrated Photogrpaher for the Charlotte Hornets. O'dells work has also appeared in National Geographic Magazine.

Internationally recognized Artist and Sculptor Mattison Fitzgerald also shows connection to the south and concern. Fitzgerald says "My first museum job interview was in the south it made a huge difference in my art career. Fitzgeralkds works has appeared on the 5oth Anniversary of Hiroishima, Cannes Film Festival and exhibited in Mexico and New York and Omaha.

Fitzgerald has survived two floods in her studios bailing water wondering when it was going to stop and one 100 year snow storm held up for two weeks waiting."

Fitzgerald is saddened by the slow response to the poor in the culturally rich area because many artists are the poor.

Fitzgerald also noted "I can completely understand what these people are going through and the artists especially. You can't just get 1985 back. If your work is gone it is gone."

"These artists are going to need even more support as they are the cultural thread the soul of the nation."

"A nation with no art is a nation with no self-image no way to reach to a higher level or a way to see their own darkness to search its inner self. It is extremely important that artists and museums are put on a top donation priority as soon as possible.

Fitzgerald and O'dell are calling for the arts and museum community around the globe to respond to the cultural tragedy the Gulf Coast is currently experiencing. These Artists are requesting arts supporters and artists to donate to the American Association of Museums.

The American Association of Museums has a long extremely established record of museum management and museum crisis management. This is the best place for cultural support for both the long and short terms.
