(PRWEB) September 9, 2005 -- Ocean Navigator magazine's School of Seamanship and the specialty travel service Sailing Ship Adventures are sponsoring a Navigation Seminar at Sea aboard the tall ship Royal Clipper on a transatlantic sailing from the Mediterranean Sea to the Caribbean, departing October 21st, 2005. The seminar's lead instructor, Captain John Carlisle, will teach celestial & electronic navigation, ocean track plotting & voyage planning, and satellite weather data acquisition. A weather instructor will teach students how to interpret weather data for voyage routing. The seminar is intended for serious offshore sailors who are preparing themselves for their own ocean passages.

"What makes this navigation seminar different," according to Dexter Donham, President of Sailing Ship Adventures, "is the ship on which it will be taught. The 440 foot Royal Clipper is the world's largest full-rigged sailing ship, offering comfortable staterooms, fine dining, and many other services and amenities, in addition to an authentic ocean-crossing sailing experience." Classes will be taught morning & afternoon while underway, with noon & evening sextant practice. Students will have frequent briefings with Royal Clipper's Captain, and will enjoy an open bridge policy. Unlike similar seminars at sea, students are encouraged to bring family members or companions not attending the seminar to enjoy the transatlantic sailing adventure with them.

The 16-night voyage from Malaga, Spain, stops in Casablanca, Safi & Essaouria, Morocco (with an optional tour of Marrakech), as well as Tenerife in the Canary Islands before arriving in Bridgetown, Barbados on November 6th. Prices begin at $3,232 per passenger for the voyage plus seminar, and just $1,932 for the voyage without the seminar. The seminar and sailing may be booked through Sailing Ship Adventures. Further information is available on the Sailing Ship Adventures Web site.

Royal Clipper is just one of many tall ships, schooners and other sailing vessels available to vacationers through Sailing Ship Adventures, which is located in Wellesley, MA. Information on ships, schedules, pricing, and theme voyages, can be found at the company's Web site, www.sailingshipadventures.com, or by calling 1-877-882-4395, toll free, Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Eastern Time.
