New Product Simplifies Exhaust Analysis for Auto Technicians

XaustAlyzer.com has a simple solution to a common exhaust analysis problem.

Orange County, CA (PRWEB) September 13, 2005 -- XaustAlyzer.com is offering a kit that prevents exhaust dilution, which can be a problem when using exhaust analyzers for engine diagnosis. According to the manufacturer, as little as 5% ambient air in your exhaust gas sample will lower the CO, HC, CO2 and NOx gas readings by 5%, and increase the Oxygen reading by about 1.00%.

This is a significant error, usually caused by not inserting the exhaust probe far enough into the tailpipe. The new Exhaust Port Kit solves this problem by providing everything required for quick and easy installation of permanent, leak-free exhaust analysis ports in any vehicle exhaust system. Anyone with a power drill can use the kit, which contains special installation tools and parts for 25 exhaust ports.

The ports are installed in a 1/4 inch diameter hole in any exhaust pipe, 1 inch diameter or larger, from 0.030 to 0.170 inches thick. Hardware is provided to close the test port when service is completed.

Test ports may be installed anywhere in the exhaust system, such as the engine header pipe, to isolate the emissions from ambient air dilution. A port installed between the catalytic converter (CAT) and the muffler also keeps ambient air out of exhaust gas measurements. A port in the header pipe before the CAT allows diagnosis of engine control issues, such as open and closed loop fuel control. A pre-CAT port can also be used to determine catalytic converter loading and determine catalytic converter oxidation and reduction efficiency under real-world conditions.

The ports are so inexpensive and easy to install that technicians may want to put one pre-CAT and one post-CAT port whenever exhaust gas analysis is used for engine service or diagnosis.
