A North Carolina author/cartoonist with three chronic medical conditions will explain his simple method for having Your Best Year Ever" at a benefit lecture for a teen with a heart condition.
MAIDEN, NC (PRWEB) September 14, 2005 -- A Carolina author and cartoonist says he wants to help his audience have their best year ever. He plans to explain his six step Best Year Ever" process at a dinner and lecture to benefit a young woman struggling with pulmonary hypertension.
The dinner and talk are scheduled for 6:00 PM Friday October 14, 2005 at Ryans restaurant in Lincolnton, NC. Dinner and a donation will be about $20.00. No reservation required. Donations go to pay travel and medical expenses for 18 year old pulmonary hypertension patient Amy Hatchcock.
Pulmonary hypertension is high blood pressure in the lungs. As the tiny arteries in the lungs become narrow, blood pressure in the lungs rises, eventually leading to serious heart and lung damage.
Some treatments are available, but according to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, medical treatment can run up to $100,000 per year. For Hatchcock, pulmonary hypertension will probably mean a heart lung transplant in her early 20s.
Author Robbins learned of Hatchcocks problems from a flier in a local restaurant. Robbins, no stranger to chronic illness, says, Even when you face terrible personal setbacks, you can still move forward by being willing to change the habits that control your life." Robbins has these warnings for people looking to improve their life:
- Dont make a big commitment to the wrong goals
- Dont try to change too much too fast
- Learn why goals so often leave us empty
- Learn why habits help change who we are, and
- Never try to do it alone
Imagine," says Robbins, if you could learn to handle money, eat a healthier diet, start exercising, open a retirement account, spend more time with your loved ones, spend the majority of your working hours doing things you are really good at or just enjoy greater peace of mind. When you begin to improve these areas," says Robbins, you really can have your best year ever."
Rodney Robbins is the author of the young adult novel My Romantic Spell" and Rodneys 52 Ways to Impress Your Boss—Without Sucking Up!" scheduled for January 2005 release. He has a rare myopathy called Periodic Paralysis, severe migraines and Celiac Disease, an autoimmune response to wheat, barley and rye grains. He has helped raise $143,000 for medical care and research.
