Scottsdale Realtors Ready for New Tech Center to Fuel South Scottsdales Rebirth

Scottsdale realtors are excited! With the help of a new Tech Center, South Scottsdale has transformed itself into some of the most sought after property around, which has local realtors anticipating an influx of interested buyers.

Scottsdale, Arizona (PRWEB) September 15, 2005 -- Scottsdale realtors are beginning to take notice. Despite being given up for dead several short years ago, South Scottsdale has turned itself around. If one could step into a time machine and return to the beginning of the decade, South Scottsdale would welcome them with boarded up shops, crumbling shopping centers, plenty of "for rent" signs, and high crime. In fact, crime was so bad; Sheriff Joe Arpaio contemplated a tent-city jail at the decrepit Los Arcos Mall.

Thats all changed today. Thanks to some keen foresight, and an embracing of technology, South Scottsdale is experiencing a rebirth. This hasnt gone unnoticed by area realtors. Says Scottsdale realtor Echo Farrell "It used to be I wouldnt even mention South Scottsdale to anyone. Now, I have people asking ME about it. Its really been a stunning turnaround."

Spearheading this renewal is the above-mentioned Los Arcos Mall site. The $300 million dollar ASU Scottsdale Center for New Technology and Innovation is set to be built on 37 acres of the Los Arcos Mall site (at Scottsdale and McDowell roads.) The project will see groundbreaking early next year.

This project, which will incorporate over 1.2 million square feet, is proof the "knowledge economy" buzzwords that have been floating around Scottsdale for the past few years are more than just talk. In anticipation of new businesses and workers, Scottsdale has also invested more than $1 billion in internal improvements. Among these projects are improved parking garages, roads, signage, and other infrastructure improvements in downtown and south Scottsdale.

But the key remains attracting good businesses. By landing higher tech industries, a domino effect happens. As a realtor, Farrell is well aware of this: "People want to live close to work. The city attracts high-tech industries; these companies in turn attract an educated, high-tech workforce. That attracts new businesses in the area to serve this new populace. Everybody wins."

Farrell should see some clients who want to move to South Scottsdale. Its estimated that plenty of these technology workers are to move into 1,400 new condominium units that start at several hundred thousand dollars, and can run into the several millions.

Its very likely the ASU Scottsdale Center for New Technology and Innovation will eventually produce 4,000 high-paying jobs. Many of them will be filled by people already in Scottsdale, but many will come from outside. This is what has Farrell excited: "Its never a bad thing to bring in good paying jobs. It introduces a very invigorating aspect to my industry – both my peers and I have noticed the buzz. In short, as a realtor, and a Scottsdale resident, Im very happy about this."
