MosaicGlobe offers users the ability to create and manage a complex website with no html experience while maintaining a professional visual design and intuitive navigation. Each site allows for multiple pages and subsections, email accounts and RSS enabled weblogs.
Built using Ruby on Rails, the web-hosted application was developed with the assistance of creative professionals and organizations (visual artists, photographers and non-profits) as well as non-professional individuals to develop powerful site creation tools built around an administrative process that is truly simple and intuitive to use.
MosaicGlobe is intended to provide web publishing tools to those creative users who need a more traditional visual website than current blogging applications provide but lack the skill-sets and/or budget required for a content management system.
How It Works
After logging in, users can add, edit and delete pages as needed and can choose from a number of page templates such as standard, journal (weblog), image gallery, FAQ and links. Each page is editable via a rich text editor and users can upload and positions images within the page. The sites navigation menu can than be easily organized with drag-and-drop functionality to suite the users needs (including the ability to nest sub-pages).
Interface designs can be chosen from a growing number of professionally designed templates to quickly change the look of a site. However, experienced users have the ability to customize the CSS stylesheets or create their own and can also edit the page HTML directly for precise control of their content.
Beta testing is open to anyone interested in creating and maintaining their own website. Guests have the chance to participate in the final stages of feature development and quality assurance while trying the application free of charge for the course of the beta trial.
