Veteran journalist and author David Kline launches BlogRevolt.com to explore the blogosphere. A realistic analysis of the ways that blogging is transforming our society. Includes interviews with top bloggers in politics, business, media and culture.

(PRWEB) September 16, 2005 -- Veteran journalist and author David Kline launched BlogRevolt.com, a site to explore and analyze the ways that blogging is transforming our society. The site includes interviews with top bloggers in politics, business, media and culture, and is accompanied by a new book: "Blog! How the Newest Media Revolution is Changing Politics, Business and Culture" by David Kline and Dan Burstein.

"Blogging," says Kline, "like any powerful new technology, inevitably brings with it a hurricane of hype and hyperbole."

And some of blogging's more excitable evangelists claim it will soon replace the traditional newspaper, nullify the influence of the rich and powerful over electoral politics, and -- by putting the power of the printing press in the hands of ordinary citizens -- enable a million new Shakespeares to emerge from the heartland.

"Don't bet on it," says Kline. He argues that while blogging will profoundly transform many areas of politics, business and culture, it cannot by itself free us from the constraints of human nature or our existing social and economic reality.

"I decided to launche Blogrevolt.com to pierce the bubble of hype and confusion surrounding this new medium," adds Kline. "I wanted to do real-world analysis of the ways that blogging will actually change our society."

"Ultimately, blogging is all about empowerment -- a revolt," says David Kline, "of the voiceless against the heedless."

"For better or worse, every citizen now has a voice. And woe be to any politician or businessman who tries to ignore the roar of today's blog-enabled citizenry," adds Kline.

Fetured on the site are numerous (free) interview downloads from various blogging luminaries:

- "The blog business is more like music than publishing" -- Interview with new media entrepreneur John Battelle

"Tell the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth" -- Interview with Microsoft "chief humanizing officer" Robert Scoble

"Blogging has broken the monopoly of the mainstream media" -- Interview with celebrity blogger Arianna Huffington

"Blogging helped me admit my acting career was going nowhere" -- Interview with former child star Wil Wheaton

"A Weblog saved my life last night" -- Interview with novelist Ayelet Waldman

BlogRevolt.com also features an essay "From Cave Painting to Wonkette: A Short History of Blogging," by Dan Burstein, Kline's co-author for their new book.

Described by former anchor and NPR commentator Daniel Schorr as a "mission-impossible journalist," Kline has earned a number of reportorial firsts to his credit while covering some of the world's most dramatic stories over the past 25 years for the New York Times, Christian Science Monitor, NBC and CBS News, the Atlantic, Rolling Stone, and a host of other major media.
