The Divine Literary Tour, commonly called Black Greeks on Tour, will kick off Sept. 23 at Howard University in Washington, D.C. The first event will be at the Howard University Book Store from 1-5 p.m., followed by a social at the Akwaaba House at 6 p.m. Saturday, we will stop in Baltimore for a forum at Coppin State University from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., followed by a sip and cheese at Baltimore City Community College.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (PRWEB) September 17, 2005 -- This city will see the kick-off of the first-ever cross-country The Divine Literary Tour, featuring a diverse roster of African American authors from a variety of genres and experiences coming together to celebrate the current literary renaissance. The kickoff will be Sept. 23-24 and will include several events in the nations capital.
This is an opportunity to showcase some talented writers while fulfilling our civic duties of making our communities better by promoting literacy," said author and Professor Fred Williams, who joins an anticipated roster of more than a dozen other authors.
The tour, commonly called Black Greek Authors on Tour, will have as its dual purpose the promotion of literacy and celebration of cultural diversity. The landmark tour kicks off at Howard University, the birthplace of black Greek letter organizations. Its first stop will be a literary discussion and book signing from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23 at the Howard University Bookstore, followed by a reception at the luxurious Akwaaba House, 1708 16th St. NW at 6 p.m. with some of the Beltways favorite movers and shakers.
Saturday will begin with a National Pan-Hellenic Council-sponsored forum at Coppin State University from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a wine and cheese social in the student center at Baltimore City Community College, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., sponsored by Tau Eta Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.
The year-long tour will include stops in New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and other major cities.
