Lillooet, BC (PRWEB) January 17, 2006 -- While awe inspiring in its vastness, the rural landscape of North America has historically been a barrier to business success for would be entrepreneurs. In her five years as an independent Watkins representative, Melody Thacker has faced, and conquered, the challenges of operating a rural business in North America. Recently named the fastest growing team leader for Watkins, Thacker is making it her mission to reach out and inspire other rural North Americans to take their business dreams to the next level.
"Small business, whether it's a traditional brick and mortar establishment or home-based, is challenging, especially in rural North America. The continuing trend of American’s in general who are looking for ways to simplify life, thinking about getting out of the city and considering small town life makes it vital to share the message that balance is achievable," says Thacker, who earned commissions on over $15,000 in sales for the forth quarter of 2005.
Thacker began her home based business in early 2001, in an effort to supplement her family's income while maintaining a presence at home for her four children.
"It didn't take long to realize that doing business in a small town was going to be rough. There are only so many people with so much money to go around in a tiny town, and to expand the population base I would have to spend almost as many hours on the road as my trucker husband," Thacker laughs. "But fortunately, the old adage of business success being dependent on location, location, location is becoming a thing of the past. I'm living proof it's possible to enjoy the benefits of small town life without giving up on dreams of financial success."
On the heels of her success, Thacker is sharing the story of her challenges and sharing success tips with interested media outlets across the country.
