Richmond, Virginia (PRWEB) January 17, 2006 -- Tom Silva, America’s favorite home improvement contractor from the television series, This Old House will appear at the 3rd Annual Central Virginia Home and Better Living Show on Saturday, January 21 and Sunday, January 22, 2006 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center in downtown Richmond, VA. Behind the Scenes at This Old House is the subject of Tom’s presentation which will be followed by a lively question and answer session. Audience members have been known to bring long lists of home improvement conundrums that Tom cheerfully and adeptly solves. He will then autograph free copies of the latest edition of This Old House Magazine which is bursting with great ideas and expert tips and advice.

Celebrating his 19th year as a member of TVs most popular home improvement team, Tom has provided years of expert advice to home enthusiasts across the country. He also brings his know-how to This Old House's latest additions, Ask This Old House and Inside this Old House. Inside This Old House takes viewers on a behind-the-scenes tour of the show every week, looking back over some favorite This Old House projects and provides updates on questions homeowners continue to ask. They take on some pretty big projects at This Old House, which means they can only work on one or two houses a year.

Ask This Old House solves the virtual truckload of questions they receive from viewers on smaller home improvement projects.

Tom Silva’s contracting company Silva Brothers Construction were discovered by WGBH, the public television station in Boston, when they built the original set for the television program The Victory Garden and were also conducting a major restoration on an 1845 Greek Revival-style house. It was then that Tom and his crew became the general contractors on This Old House and the rest is history.

The Central Virginia Home & Better Living Show also is great place for planning outdoor projects and purchases for upscale summer living. Show visitors might want to stop and take a rest in one of the teak Adirondack chairs and benches on display at Virginia Teak Co. of Gloucester’s exhibit, where sitting is encouraged. C & K Homes, which delivers modular homes of 1,200-to-4, 000 square feet in Cape Cod, Ranch and Colonial designs, will have a crew working round the clock to construct one at the convention center in the week prior to the show.
