The American College Holds Open House For Future Leaders on President’s Day

Students and professionals interested in becoming effective leaders are invited to attend an open house highlighting the benefits of the Master of Science in Management (MSM) with an Emphasis in Leadership program. This event will be held at the Gregg Conference Center at The American College on Monday, February 20th -- President’s Day from 6:00 p.m. -- 8:00 p.m. The open house will consist of networking and refreshments followed by a presentation on how leaders develop other leaders. In honor of President’s day, part of the presentation will examine President Lincoln and his leadership qualities.

Bryn Mawr, PA (PRWEB) January 31, 2006 -- Students and professionals interested in becoming effective leaders are invited to attend an open house highlighting the benefits of the Master of Science in Management (MSM) with an Emphasis in Leadership program. This event will be held at the Gregg Conference Center at The American College, the nation’s leading financial services educator, on Monday, February 20th -- President’s Day.

The MSM program is an intense, yearlong program that prepares today’s executives to successfully lead their organizations into the future. Although The American College is best known for training financial services professionals, this program is not exclusive to those in that field. Many of the students enrolled in this program are from a variety of different companies and industries.

The MSM with an Emphasis in Leadership is one of the most prestigious degrees awarded by The American College. This curriculum is ideal for professionals interested in assuming increased levels of responsibility within the hierarchy of their business or organization. This program helps individuals achieve professional success by furthering the development of effective leaders capable of advancing organizational goals through personal influence and teamwork.

The open house will consist of networking and refreshments followed by a presentation on how leaders develop other leaders. In honor of President’s day, part of the presentation will examine President Lincoln and his leadership qualities. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn more about the MSM degree program.

The featured presenter at the event will be Peter J. Dean, PhD. Professor Dean holds the O. Alfred Granum Chair in Management at The American College and is an Associate Professor of Management and Leadership. His latest book, available through McGraw-Hill is called Leadership for Everyone -- How to Apply the Seven Essential Skills to Become a Great Motivator, Influencer and Leader. The book explores how every interaction and every encounter in business and in everyday life, holds opportunities for leadership.

Also presenting will be Molly Shepard, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Leader’s Edge™. Shepard has more than twenty years’ experience in career counseling, leadership development, executive coaching and executive search. She recently published her first book, Stop Whining and Start Winning, which deftly exposes the roadblocks that keep women from reaching the top of the corporate ladder -- and offers eight powerful strategies to overcome these hurdles and be more successful.

Acceptance into the MSM program is highly selective and designed to identify candidates of superior potential. It is limited to 30 professionals each year. All applicants
must:
·   Complete and submit admission and registration forms.
·   Submit a statement of intent indicating experience with budgets.
·   Provide a letter of corporate approval from his or her supervisor, if applicable.
·   Complete a telephone interview with the head of the MSM program, Peter Dean, PhD.

To earn the MSM degree, students must successfully complete all 10 courses in the program including a yearlong application project. They must also agree to adhere to The American College’s Code of Ethics and Procedures. The program begins and concludes with two, dynamic on-campus residency programs. The balance of the curriculum is delivered through 36 weeks of distance self-study courses with an expected study time of 10 to 12 hours per week. Chartered Leadership Fellow® (CLF®) designees should inquire about a tuition discount.
