Localization World, a conference devoted to localization, will be held on October 16-18, 2006. The main conference sessions (October 17-18) will take place at the Centre Mont-Royal. The preconference sessions on October 16 will take place at the conference hotel, the Hotel Omni Mont-Royal. The three-day event consists of one day of preconference workshops and two days of conference sessions, exhibitions and networking.

(PRWEB) October 4, 2006 -- Localization World focuses on processes and solutions for adapting a product, service or software application to a specific language or culture to seem native to that particular region.

The translation and localization services sector is vital to many businesses worldwide, and the industry will generate approximately US$9 billion in 2006. The Canadian localization market is particularly robust. The Localization World conference is designed to appeal to all levels of localization professionals and managers, both on the customer side and service side. Representatives from 60 countries have registered for the event.

Increasing the Value of Linguistic Assets
With the theme of “Increasing the Value of Linguistic Assets,” the program will cover a wide range of issues in the world of translation and localization. Utilizing three concurrent tracks, the program is filled with information and discussions about linguistic assets, with case studies from a wide range of applications. Sample session topics include the future of translation technology and case studies from The Well Project, Intel, Dade Behring, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and others. A keynote address will be provided by Bernhard Kohlmeier, director of localization futures at Microsoft Corporation. The preconference day features sessions on marketing, distributed teams, translation automation and more.

The conference will also host the Globalization and Localization Association’s fourth annual membership meeting. GALA is an international non-profit association that promotes translation services, language technology and language management solutions.

Localization World Montréal is organized by MultiLingual Computing, Inc., and The Localization Institute in cooperation with GALA. More information about the event can be found at http://www.localizationworld.com/lwmon2006.
