Holiday home lettings expert provides the know-how on getting the most out of your holiday home.
(PRWEB) October 7, 2006 -- Ross Elder of www.holidaylettings.co.uk offered a helping hand to homeowners at last week’s ‘A Place in the Sun’ exhibition at the NEC. Ross and his business partner Andrew Firth established www.holidaylettings.co.uk seven years ago as an advertising portal for holiday homeowners attracting holidaymakers. It now provides advertising to more than 7,500 holiday homes in 63 countries.
Drawing on his experience as a landlord in the UK and abroad and years of advising owners on their rentals, Ross held a captivated audience of nearly 1,000 owners and prospective buyers seeking advice on choosing the right property and how then to maximise rental returns.
Recent publicity has raised concerns about over-supply of holiday property. So, with prospective buyers in the audience the advice on choosing the right property was vital and investors were encouraged to do their research before signing on the dotted line. Within his seminar Ross emphasised the importance of knowing the season length and climate of your chosen location. He also highlighted the reliability of transport links saying, “Many owners don’t check how many airlines service their destinations or seriously consider the consequences should an airline decide to withdraw a particular route.”
Ross is particularly aware of the growing number of what he calls “lifestyle investors,” those who purchase a holiday home with the desire and intention to spend a percentage of time there each year, but to rent it out when the property is vacant. These people form the basis of www.holidaylettings.co.uk homeowners, who by managing their own bookings enjoy the freedom and flexibility of going to their holiday home whenever they want to.
“I was overwhelmed by the number of people seeking rental advice, what to buy and where, how to furnish and the various lettings options available,” Ross commented. “The need for such advice has been a concern of ours for some time and as such we have created a Lettings Advice pack for exhibition visitors and have started contributing rental advice to ‘A Place in the Sun’ magazine.”
Ross continued, “We are seeing a rapid growth of lifestyle investors who see their holiday home as a mixed use investment. In light of this our site is expanding in the coming weeks to encompass more news and owner advice to ensure that homeowners have a positive lettings experience.”
