Saugatuck Founder and CEO Bill McNee to explain “SaaS 2.0” shift to business service provisioning platform
Westport, Connecticut (PRWEB) October 12, 2006 -- Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) is rapidly becoming a set of integrated business service provisioning (BSP) platforms. That shift – and the business drivers behind it – are key market trends to be presented by Saugatuck Technology founder and CEO Bill McNee at the Software Business 2006 conference, scheduled for Tuesday morning, October 17th, 2006, at the Hyatt Regency Tech Center in Denver, Colorado.
Mr. McNee’s keynote will follow the opening keynote delivered by Zach Nelson, CEO of NetSuite, with a host of other VIPs “main-tent” and breakout sessions from executives from Citrix, Iron Mountain, Ketera, Progress Software, Borland, IBM and Blue Star, among others.
Mr. McNee’s comments and insights will be based on research recently published by Saugatuck, including its well-received thought leadership report, “SaaS 2.0: Software-as-a-Service as Next-Gen Business Platform.” The report, along with more recent research, shows how SaaS is at a fundamental "tipping point" between the current generation (what Saugatuck calls SaaS 1.0), and the emerging generation of blended software, infrastructure, and business services arrayed across multiple usage and delivery platforms and business models (what Saugatuck calls SaaS 2.0).
The complete research study, published by Saugatuck on April 26, 2006, is available at www.saugatech.com/239order.htm. A partial summary is available at http://research.saugatech.com/fr/researchalerts/240RA.pdf (registration required).
“I’m delighted to participate in the Fifth Annual Software Business 2006 conference,” said McNee. “This looks to be a terrific event that will bring together today’s industry leaders, at both established and emerging SaaS companies. Software Business has pulled together a fantastic line-up of speakers, with an agenda that will both inform, and help frame the debate, as to where SaaS is going, and how IT vendors and services providers can achieve profitable success.”
About the Research
The research study is based on an extensive research program that included a web survey of more than 150 senior business and IT executives, 40 detailed executive interviews, and 15 deep-dive vendor briefings, all conducted between January 2006 and March of 2006. More than two-thirds of the user firms participating in the research had revenues greater than $500 million per year.
