New Book On Birth Order Gives Hope To Millions Suffering From Stress

Adult inability to manage stress-related symptoms can often be traced back to early traumas experienced in the first five years of a person's life. They relate to birth order and sibling pressures. A new book from Dr. Deidre Gordon explores these issues

Essex, UK (PRWEB) October 13, 2006 -- Psychotherapist and author Dr. Deidre Gordon (www.gettingtoknowyourself.com) is proud to announce the launch of her new book on the importance and significance of birth order. Dr. Gordon’s book, Who Am I, not only delves into the basics of birth order—what it is and why it is important to us—but it also shares useful information on how to best overcome the many and varied problems that it may be causing in our daily lives.

First-borns in a family will have issues quite different than those of the last-born child, who will have different issues than those siblings born in the middle. Who Am I discusses in detail the reasons we are who we are and why we are the way we are. It explores the dynamics and the upbringing opportunities (or lack thereof) as they pertain to the individual’s birth order, and how those same dynamics can influence our choices and decisions as adults.

Dr. Gordon says: “The effect of siblings and birth order is timeless. We are told and expected to love our siblings. This often causes enormous angst as, to the children themselves, siblings are rivals, useless playmates and condemn each of us into the family niches left over depending on our birth order position. At no time are we permitted to develop the true person that we were in the first few months after birth when we had 100% attention and support from the Mother, or Mother figure. This is an on-going angle that each and everyone knows deep inside that they were not allowed to develop themselves within the family unit. The only ones with a position were the first and last born. The rest were middles and ‘lost in the crowd’.”

Dr. Gordon has devoted a website to her unique and useful observations on this matter. You can also pick up her new book there, as well as read more on this fascinating subject. It is available at: www.gettingtoknowyourself.com.
