Music, Maryland & Mealtime Favorites Highlight Fundraiser for Washington Hill

Area Politicians will sample food fare at annual event.

(PRWEB) October 15, 2006 -- The Citizens for Washington Hill, Inc. (CWH) is a non-profit community organization dedicated to the improvement of the quality of life for the area residents, are hosting the Taste of East Baltimore. The goals of CWH include the continued historic preservation of the neighborhood and the development of community programs and activities that seek to enrich the lives of the residents.

Proceeds from the Taste will enable CWH to continue the many projects now underway in the Washington Hill/East Baltimore area including the Broadway medium. Proceeds will also benefit Earl’s Place, a transitional housing program which provides tools for self sufficiency to formerly homeless men.

A Taste of East Baltimore
Guests will have the opportunity to sample wine,enjoy food specialties from participating restaurants, have autographed photos with Miss Maryland, dance to music by the Todd Marcus Quartet and meet special guests Congressman Elijah E. Cummings, Representatives from the Governor's Office of Minority Affairs, Mayor O'Malley's SE Liaison for Neighborhoods, Baltimore City Council President Sheila Dixon and Councilmember James Kraft.

Miss America contender Brittany Lietz, Miss Maryland is a student at the University of Maryland School of Nursing and a native of Edgewater. In 2005 she was diagnosed with Stage II malignant Melanoma. Miss Lietz is a patient at John’s Hopkins hospital, where she must visit on a regular basis to make sure that the cancer has not spread. She uses her platform to raise awareness of skin cancer and to help children and teens throughout Maryland make healthy decisions for their future.
