Amnet received the Most Unique Wireless Installation award for completely replacing the lighting and automated shade control systems in a 12,000-square-foot home while causing minimal disruption to the homeowners.

Stamford, CT (PRWEB) October 18, 2006 -- Amnet Systems, a full-service technology solutions provider, has won a 2006 Lutron Excellence Award for the Most Unique Wireless Installation. Amnet (www.amnetsystems.com) won for a project in which it completely replaced the lighting and automated shade control systems in an already occupied 12,000-square-foot home.

Amnet received the award at the 2006 Custom Electronics Design and Installation (CEDIA) Expo on September 14 at INVESCO Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver. The Award honors a select group of Lutron’s international residential systems providers for outstanding HomeWorks® projects completed between June 1, 2005 and June 30, 2006.

It is appropriate on our 10th anniversary that our winning project was a total system replacement
“It is appropriate on our 10th anniversary that our winning project was a total system replacement,” said Amnet President Alex Sulpizi. “The previous installers didn’t have a long-term system in place. The homeowner was controlling 35 shades in their home with 20 remote controls that were all separately battery powered. This new system just goes to show how much technology has changed in the past ten years and what installers are now capable of with a little foresight.”

The new system allows the homeowner to press just one button to open or close all of the shades. It also includes a timer that closes shades on specific south-facing windows when the sun hits them to protect the antique furniture and carpets in that room.

The system also makes lighting “scenes” come to life throughout the home, and features individual touch panel button control for one or all 185 lighting zones inside and outside the home. The homeowner also has access to a “goodnight” button, which shuts down the lights and lowers the shades at night for security and privacy purposes.

The lighting programs in the home are set to the astronomical time clock to adjust to daily and seasonal sun changes, and programmed “vacation settings” can mimic the lighting changes of an occupied home when the homeowner is out of town.

“This customer went from being afraid to touch his system to interacting with it as a part of everyday life,” Sulpizi said.

The project used a combination of wireless and wired products and was implemented with minimal disruption to the home’s interior faux finish and fabric-covered walls. The homeowners were able to live in the home throughout the entire project, thanks to intensive up-front planning and design. Amnet also worked in systematic phases, which allowed the installers to remain “invisible” and caused little disruption to the everyday lives of the homeowner and his family.
