Douglasville, GA (PRWEB) October 20, 2006 -- Massachusetts based non-profit organization, Homes for Our Troops, will hold the key turnover ceremony for severely wounded veteran, Joseph Worley, at 66 Ridgecrest Drive, Douglasville, Georgia on Sunday, October 22, 2006 at 1:00 p.m.
HM3 Joe Dan "Doc" Worley, a Navy Corpsman assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines in Iraq was wounded on September 17, 2004, while rushing to the aid of a wounded Marine. Joe-Dan lost his left leg to an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) and suffered five gun shot wounds to his right leg, leaving that leg severely damaged.
Homes for Our Troops purchased an existing home in Douglasville and went in and made modifications such as widening all the doorways for wheelchair access, replaced all the flooring, modified the bathroom for handicap accessibility, built a wheelchair ramp at the entrance of the home among other updates to the home.
With the help of local businesses and dedicated volunteers, Joseph, his wife and young daughter will now have a new home of their own, suited to Joseph's needs where he and his family can adjust to a new way of life with Joseph's disabilities.
This home presentation is one of the three to five home presentations Homes for Our Troops expects to make to wounded veterans around the country in 2006.
On Monday, October 23, 2006 Homes for Our Troops President and Founder, John Gonsalves will be present at the America Supports You charity golf tournament being held at Sugarloaf TPC (Tournament Players Club) in Duluth, GA with Joseph Worley and Kirt Rebello, Director of Projects and Veterans Affairs to officially transfer the deed to Joseph during the afternoon reception.
