Stryke, a former Atlantic Records recording artist, is an independent recording artist and jingle-writer in Chicago. His new album, "Christmas," is an instrumental, acoustic take on traditional carols, with the notable exception of Alice Peacock singing Sam Stryke's original lyrics to "The Holly and the Ivy." Chicago, IL (Billboard Publicity Wire/PRWeb) October 31, 2006 -- Acclaimed pianist Sam Stryke (aka Struyk) is releasing his third major CD, "Christmas," on November 1st.

Stryke, a former Atlantic Records recording artist, is an independent recording artist and commercial music composer in Chicago. "Christmas" is an instrumental, acoustic take on traditional carols, with the notable exception of Alice Peacock singing Sam Stryke's original lyrics to "The Holly and the Ivy." "Christmas" has a Norah Jones meets Vince Guaraldi vibe: melancholy and contemplative and rich. Clever time signatures, deconstructed melodies and phrases, and at times lush orchestrations bring these compelling arrangements to life. World-class musicians - including Alice Peacock, Fareed Haque, Sandy Torano, John Rice and others - perform on the album. Stryke, with more than a decade of experience in the studio, sought uncompromising levels of production quality and musicianship for this recording.

The Holly and the Ivy.
In addition to his own music projects, Stryke has written high-profile music for national TV and radio commercials for the past 12 years. With Sandy Torano at Scandal Music, Chicago, he composed the music for the hilarious Bud Light "Real Men of Genius" radio campaign (the most awarded radio campaign ever), scored more than a dozen Super Bowl commercials (several USA Today poll number 1's, including this year's Bud Light "Secret Fridge"), and he composes music for "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and Oprah's XM Satellite Radio channel. He has written music for independent films and is a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts jazz study grant.

Sam Stryke will be performing his arrangements this Christmas season in a variety of venues. For more information, please see his website (www.samstryke.com) for bio, blog, music samples, and more. For a press a full-length resume, publicity photos, etc., please contact via e-mail.
