Hundreds of free how-to articles, breaking news, buyers' guides, and in-depth look at today's most popular cameras are available now on top camera retailer's web site.

New York, NY (PRWeb) November 2, 2006 -- Adorama Camera, Inc. today announced AIRC--Adorama Imaging Resource Center (www.adorama.com/AIRC), a comprehensive, free online source of information for aspiring photographers, hobbyists, and working professionals, on its web site. AIRC goes live with hundreds of how-to articles, breaking new product news stories, "Guided Tours" of top cameras, business tips for professional photographers, and much more, written by a world-class team of photographers and photography writers.

Something for everybody
"No matter what your level of experience is in photography, we have articles that will help you become a better photographer," says Mason Resnick, Editor of AIRC. "In addition to articles specifically written for snapshooters, hobbyists and pros, we offer special, comprehensive articles on specific areas of interest, such as photographing Weddings, Macro, Landscapes, Special Effects, Wildlife, Travel, and more."

No matter what your level of experience is in photography, we have articles that will help you become a better photographer
AIRC, with its broader scope of topics, replaces the original Adorama Academy, which was founded in 2003. New features exclusive to AIRC include a News Desk, Buying Guides and Guided Tours—in-depth looks at today's most popular cameras.

A world-class editorial team
AIRC has built up an editorial team of world-class writers, including Bob Atkins, Joe Farace, Diane Miller, Monica Cipnic, Rick Sammon, Jason Schneider, Jon Sienkiewicz, Steve Sint, Elinor Stecker-Orel, Jeff Wignall, and others. "We have Photoshop gurus, special-effects specialists, equipment experts, and world-class how-to authors who are also accomplished professional photographers," notes Resnick. "The AIRC editorial staff rivals those of many photo magazines."

"Collectively, we have approximately two centuries' worth of experience writing about photography," Resnick quips. Resnick joined Adorama last year after spending five years as the Managing Editor of Popular Photography & Imaging.

New editorial features
Developed over the past year, AIRC offers the following new editorial features:

News Desk: Daily updated, News Desk provides late-breaking new product news, industry trends and analysis, opinions, new technology bulletins, software updates, firmware upgrades, product recalls, and show reports. Hundreds of articles are already posted and easily accessible.

Gear Savvy: Beyond a simple gear guide, Gear Savvy includes articles that introduce readers to equipment they may not be familiar with yet…such as tripods, scanners, graphics tablets, filters, DSLRs, and more. You can also read insights into specific digital camera functions. For instance, readers can learn how to use their digital cameras' black-and-white modes, or how to clean dust off their DSLR sensor.

Guided Tours: Comprehensive looks at today's most popular cameras. Each button, mode, and function is explained along with suggestions of how and when to use them.

Picture-taking tips: AIRC has produced several packages that explore specific areas of photography, including Landscapes, Special Effects, Macro, Weddings, Travel, and Wildlife photography.

The Best…Right Now: An ongoing series of buying guides, where our editors select products they feel are exceptional in their respective categories. Current guides include: Starter DSLRs, "Wow" compacts, EVF cameras, fashion cameras, budget compacts.

Career Jumpstart: A series of articles designed to help photographers make the jump from amateur to professional.

Many more special features and sections are in the works. "Our goal is to make AIRC the go-to destination for anyone who wants to learn more about photography. Whether your goal is to buy a simple compact digicam or are looking for the latest studio lighting technique we want to be the first place you'll look," notes Resnick.

A photo magazine on a retail web site?

Why would Adorama, a well-respected New York-based camera retailer, publish what is essentially an online photo magazine? Resnick says, "we believe the more information we can provide, the more people will trust Adorama both as a reliable information source and as a place where they can feel comfortable buying their photographic gear."
