Staples2Naples Organisers Announce Euro-African Banger Rally Calais2Casablanca

Street Safari, organisers of the original European banger rally Staples2Naples, announce their fifth event, Calais2Casablanca, their first ever Euro-African motoring adventure. Like all StreetSafari events, participating teams must get their £100 cars across the finish line after several days of amazing driving and quirky challenges for cash prizes.

(PRWEB) November 9, 2006 -- Calais2Casablanca, from the organisers of industry leading annual events Staples2Naples, Home2Rome and CzechWrecks, descends through Europe in the late spring of 2007. Calais2Casablanca is the first StreetSafari event to entail two continents, breaking out of Europe to land in the culturally rich country of Morocco in Northern Africa.

The event takes teams, in their £100 cars, from northern France to Casablanca. Along the way, they cross over the fabulous Millau Viaduct, the world's tallest road bridge, before tackling the Pyrenees. After rounding Spain's Mediterranean cities of Barcelona and Valencia, teams cross the Straits of Gibraltar into the Moroccan frontier.

Everyone has their own reasons for entering a banger rally
Justin Clements, lead organiser, said, "This particular event has been in the works for about two years. We're always looking for new routes and challenges for our events. We thought that CzechWrecks would be hard to beat after its amazing media interest last year. But I have to say, we're really excited about some of the highlights the Calais2Casablanca route offers."

Those highlights, Clements points out, include not only the Millau Viaduct, but the Pyrenees and Sierra Nevada mountain ranges, and the Principality of Andorra.

"Everyone has their own reasons for entering a banger rally," Clements explains. "Every team and car has its own personality and a lot of teams use the event to raise money for charity. No doubt, the social experience plays a big part, but we always stress that it's the driving challenge in a clapped out car that really makes the event. The average working person can still have an adventure over a long weekend."

Calais2Casablanca heads for Africa in June 2007. Pre-registration is required. For more information, visit http://www.calais2casablanca.com or the Street Safari anchor site at http://www.streetsafari.com .

Notes to editors:
1. Calais2Casablanca takes place over five days in June 2007. Participants must enter cars costing less than £100. For more information please see www.calais2casablanca.com

2. StreetSafari LLC is the original European banger-rallying company. The original event, the infamous and highly successful Staples2Naples Rally (which took teams from Staples Corner in London to Naples in Italy) first took place in 2003 and has taken place every September since. Due to overwhelming demand, further rallies have been introduced over the years including Home2Rome and CzechWrecks in Europe, and BigApple2BigEasy (BABE Rally) in America.
