From affordable digital SLRs to "Wow" compact digital cameras, it's been a banner year for photographers. The Adorama Information Resource Center's new online guide emphasizes the best models--just in time for the holiday shopping season.

New York, NY (PRWEB) Nov. 13, 2006 - 2006 will be remembered as a banner year for photographers because this year's crop offered higher-resolution cameras loaded with features for less money. But there are so many cameras, consumers can easily get lost deciding which camera to buy. Enter the new AIRC - Adorama Imaging Resource Center , with its first annual Top Cameras report and buying guide (http://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?op=academy&article=111306&refby=press_buyingguide).

Written for snapshooters through photography enthusiasts, the guide covers 36 cameras by areas of interest, with descriptions of each camera and its key features, and who would get the most benefit out of owning that camera.

Each of these gifts was selected for its practicality as well as its low price
Categories include: Entry-level digital SLR (single lens reflex) cameras, budget-priced compact cameras, compact cameras loaded with features (nicknamed "Wow!" cameras), EVF (electronic viewfinder) cameras, fashionable-looking cameras, and film cameras.

"The cameras were chosen as primary examples of the best in their particular category," notes Mason Resnick, editor of AIRC. "There are so many new cameras out there that someone who's looking for the right camera for their needs can easily be overwhelmed. We're just trying to streamline their decision-making process."

-20 gifts for photographers for under $100 -

In addition, AIRC lists and describes 20 gifts for photographers that cost less than $100. This special section is written for non-photographers who have a friend, family member or significant other who is a photographer. "Each of these gifts was selected for its practicality as well as its low price," says Resnick. "You'd be surprised at what you can buy for, say, around $50 that would make the photographer in your life happy."

-Online photo magazine at a retail site?-

The AIRC (http://www.adorama.com/airc&refby=press_buyingguide), which is the destination of choice for photographers at all levels of experience who want to improve their picture-taking and image-editing skills, offers how-to photography articles, buying guides, camera reviews, and breaking news about the photography industry, written by a team of top photography experts.

Why would Adorama, a well-respected New York-based camera retailer, publish what is essentially an online photo magazine? Editor Mason Resnick says, "we believe the more information and knowledge we can provide, the more people will trust Adorama both as a reliable information source and as a place where they can feel comfortable buying their photographic gear."
