Vancouver, British Columbia (PRWEB) November 15, 2006 -- The American Society for Apheresis (ASFA) (www.apheresis.org), an organization dedicated to leading the field of apheresis through patient and donor care, research, education, and advocacy, is pleased to announce a two-part educational webinar series focusing on regulatory and accreditation oversight of apheresis programs.

"These two webinars focus on the expanding regulatory and accreditation programs influencing apheresis activities and practice. It is essential that professionals in the field are aware and understand these requirements," states Patricia Jost Golden, Co-Chair of ASFA's Education Committee. "ASFA means to support apheresis professionals by providing a forum to introduce new information and exchange ideas about these and other topics."

The first webinar in the series, "Understanding the Regulatory and Accreditation Programs for Apheresis Donor, Stem Cell, and Therapeutic Activities", will be presented by Sheryl A. Tran on November 29, 2006 at 11:00 AM PST (2:00 PM EST). Attendees with an understanding of the various regulatory and accreditation programs available for apheresis activities will compare and contrast accreditation options and discuss inspection processes for accreditation programs.

The second webinar in the series, "FDA Regulatory Oversight, Inspections, and Enforcement for Apheresis Stem Cell Activities" will be presented by Elizabeth Armstrong on December 6, 2006 at 11:00 AM PST (2:00 PM EST). This session is designed to provide an overview of FDA regulations for human cell and tissue products and ensure that apheresis professionals are knowledgeable about FDA inspection and enforcement for apheresis activities.
