L-com Connectivity Products Opens Manufacturing Plant in SuZhou, China

L-com has manufactured cable assemblies, connectors, and other connectivity equipment in the United States for almost 25 years, and has bought in bulk from Chinese manufacturers in the past. This is the first time they have manufactured in a wholly-owned factory outside of the United States.

North Andover, MA (PRWeb) November 23, 2006 -- L-com Connectivity Products officially announced today the opening of their first wholly-owned manufacturing facility in SuZhou, China. The 30,000 square foot facility joins L-com's recently expanded United States manufacturing plant, which opened near their home office in North Andover, MA about one year ago.

The new plant in China features state-of-the-art assembly and molding machinery, a large office area which can be expanded as the number of personnel grows, and a video-linked conference area for real-time communication between managers.

Adding this factory is expected to dramatically increase L-com's custom and standard connectivity product capabilities while keeping costs and lead times low. "We've been interested in opening a plant in China for a while now," commented Tom Barczak, L-com's Corporate Director of Manufacturing, who provided domestic oversight of the plant's development. "Our customers should be as excited as we are at what this means for their product needs."

Mr. Barczak stressed that the China plant is not replacing any domestic manufacturing initiatives. "In fact," he said, "it directly compliments what we're doing in the United States by coupling advanced production capability with our domestic quick-turnaround capabilities. Basically, we'll have the individual attention and response to customers' needs that a small company can offer, with the manufacturing muscle of a much larger company."

L-com has long held strategic alliances with manufacturers in China to produce its industry-famous connectivity products at a competitive price. These relationships are expected to remain strong.
