Mr. Ozzie Lopez of the office of the Mayor presented the certificate to the Dominican-born actress and model Isabella Martinez Wall as recognition for her continued efforts toward inspiring girls to become independent young women through the tradition of the Quinceañera celebration.
Martínez Wall, a former Revlon Unforgettable Woman and Miss Dominican Republic, launched her business www.Be15.com four years ago dedicated to preparing young Latina's for this coming-of-age celebration and for their future as independent, intelligent, purpose-driven women.
"The Girl Scouts organization is the perfect environment to share our message of inspiration. At the ceremony I felt compelled to read a Bible passage, Proverbs 31, about being a virtuous woman. If we can instill these noble qualities at an early stage, we can influence the future of young women everywhere." said Martinez-Wall following the event.
The theme of the event "Being a Princess" was perfect for sharing the inspirational message as girls from East Los Angeles troops 272, 745 and 1089, paraded into the event on the red carpet dressed as princesses. Quinceañera traditions such as dancing with Dad, riding in a horse drawn carriage, dinner protocol and the wearing of a Tiara were celebrated.
