Seattle, WA (PRWeb) December 13, 2006 -- Ambient Insight today announced a report on the 2006-2011 Real-time Collaboration-based Learning market. The report analyzes the demand across all the buyer segments in the US including: consumer, PreK-12, higher education, state and local government, federal government, businesses, associations, and healthcare. "The market reached $2.6 billion in 2006 and is growing at a five-year compound annual growth rate of 34.5%. Until recently, this type of learning product was rarely used outside the corporate enterprise," comments Sam Adkins, Chief Research Officer. "The demand has now spread to all the other buyer segments and revenues will grow to $11.4 billion by 2011."

The report breaks out three types of products: content events, content and technology services, and installed technology. The revenues for content events are growing by 43.8%. By 2011, fee-based events like real-time virtual classes, virtual labs, and live educational Webinars will generate the largest revenues and the highest profit margins for suppliers.

The revenues for content and technology services are growing at 25.5%. The largest revenues for content services derive from academic tutoring. But the fastest growing content service is live product training targeted at the consumer and small and medium business (SMB) segments. The highest technology services revenues throughout the forecast period are for hosted Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms.

There is now a growing demand for inexpensive installed on-premise technology and suppliers with hosted solutions are competing with lower prices. The lower prices are attracting customers from all the buyer segments and the adoption rate is accelerating. New open source products are also driving prices down. "The customer always wins in a situation like this," concludes Adkins.
