Leveraging the power, simplicity and elegance of design of Python, Django is rapidly becoming one of the fastest growing new technologies available to web application developers. (PRWeb) December 29, 2006 -- In keeping with its reputation for providing the most innovative and cutting edge training classes for programmers and system administration professionals, Big Nerd Ranch, Inc. announced the debut of Django Bootcamp for April 2-6, 2007. Since its development two years ago, Django has been on the fast-track to predominance in the industry for developers seeking a robust, database-driven framework for web application development. Leveraging the power, simplicity and elegance of design of Python, Django is rapidly becoming one of the fastest growing new technologies available to web application developers. Recent buzz has increased interest amongst Python developers as the newest "must-have" skill and made Django a prime candidate for the newest Big Nerd Ranch training course.

"Over the past two years, we have been watching with interest the development of Django as a database-driven web application technology," commented Big Nerd Ranch founder, Aaron Hillegass. "Recent enhancements and standardization of the system have elevated Django from Python-based curiosity to a full-fledged solution for organizations across a spectrum of industries. We feel it has come into its own as a dynamic web framework that is poised to take the industry by storm. Django Bootcamp is the ideal opportunity for Python enthusiasts to take their knowledge to a higher level of excellence. And Big Nerd Ranch is the ideal training course provider to take them there."

The five-day, intensive bootcamp provides exhaustive training on the fundamental areas of Django instruction by instructor Juan Pablo Claude. Juan Pablo is an accomplished Python, Objective-C and Cocoa programmer who cut his teeth as a developer in his work as a professor of physical inorganic chemistry at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. The curriculum is designed to target the needs of web application developers, web designers needing to develop server-side technology skills, and programmers developing web services using Python and XML. Students emerging from the class will demonstrate mastery in the following areas:

- installation of Django and all its components, including a database
- deployment of a Django application using mod_python and Apache or FastCGI and Apache
- design of applications that use PostgreSQL, MySQL or SQLite databases
- design of applications with robust user authentication and session data
- utilization of Django facilities for easy form processing and data validation
- effective utilization of Django's powerful template system
- maintenance of site and data with Django's administration system
- implementation of AJAX solutions using Django
- creation of web services using Django

Prior knowledge of Python is not required for the class, but students should have a basic understanding of object-oriented programming and HTML. For those concerned about being ready to take on the challenge of Django, suggested reading includes "Head First HTML" by Freeman and Freeman and "Learning Python" by Mark Lutz.
