Lynda.com Offers Training for New Apple Aperture Photography Software

Professional training for Apple's Aperture users planned.

Gig Harbor, WA (PRWEB) February 8, 2006 -- Professional photographers, authors and educators Scott Bourne and Derrick Story have signed on to create educational tutorials for Aperture users via lynda.com.

Lynda.com is an award-winning provider of Hands-On Training™ instructional books, CD and DVD-based video training, self-paced online learning, and events for creative designers, instructors, students, and hobbyists.

Production on the series starts in March, and the title will be available for sale in the second quarter.

Veteran trainers Bourne and Story taught the world’s first public Aperture class in January at IDG’s Macworld conference in San Francisco. Bourne is the publisher of the only Web site exclusively devoted to Aperture, www.aperturetricks.com. Story writes about Aperture and other digital photography-related subjects at www.thedigitalstory.com. Bourne and Story also contribute Aperture-related articles at www.macdevcenter.com.

The first lynda.com Aperture training title will be called “Aperture Essential Training” and will offer task-oriented, movie-based tutorials that train photographers how to use Aperture’s core elements. Targeted toward beginning users, the lessons cover all the basic principles of Aperture, from getting to know the workspace and tools to using Aperture’s image editing and publishing features.

Bourne and Story will walk students through the real-world process of importing images, selecting the best shots, keywording, archiving, image adjustments, printing, publishing to books and websites and more.

Exercise files accompany the training, allowing users to follow along and learn at their own pace. Bourne and Story have also included special plug-ins and Automator scripts that improve Aperture’s functionality.

A lynda.com Online Training Library™ subscription starting at $25 per month provides online access to this entire tutorial in addition to more than 160 other titles, including more than 11,000 movie clips, covering a wide range of software, technologies, and techniques. The Aperture training DVD will also be available for purchase at $149.95.

For more information about the Aperture training, visit www.aperturetricks.com and www.lynda.com.
