The National Retail Federation projects Valentine’s Day spending at a whopping $13.70 billion in consumer spending. No wonder retailers pound the consumer with advertising. This year the average consumer will spend $108 for gifts. For single women, each commercial, poster, billboard and display reminds her she’s alone. Not true, says LA Therapist, Phyllis Chase, MA, MFT, singles are the new majority.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 9, 2006 -- The National Retail Federation projects Valentine’s Day spending at a whopping $13.70 billion in consumer spending. No wonder retailers pound the consumer with advertising. This year the average consumer will spend $108 for gifts. For single women, each commercial, poster, billboard and display reminds her she’s alone. Not true, says LA Therapist, Phyllis Chase, MA, MFT, singles are the new majority.

“Valentine’s Day spent alone makes women feel unnecessarily unloved,” states Chase, founder of The Road to Über Singledom a program to help women love the life they have right now. “We’re hosting a Valentine’s Recovery Workshop to help women bounce back from the unrealistic and continual bombardment of advertising that makes a woman feel like a loser if she is not in a relationship.”

According to the U.S. Census, there are 84 million unmarried adults; more unmarried singles than married couples, so why do women feel so isolated on this holiday? Chase believes, “No matter how hard we try, women hold an unconscious belief that Prince Charming will arrive one day. When a woman hits her late 30’s and the carriage hasn’t arrived, she thinks something’s wrong with her.”

A practicing Los Angeles psychotherapist and co-host of Shrink Rap, a radio talk show that deals with psychological issues on LA radio’s KCSN 88.5 fm every Tuesday night from 6:30 to 7 pm. Phyllis Chase speaks to the heart of women: She’s created a Valentine’s Recovery Workshop for Sunday, February 19th at the Beverly Hills Country Club. This champagne brunch and program focuses on tools women can use to live a happy, super (Über) life as a single woman today. Tickets are $75 which includes a Champagne brunch buffet and door prizes from Skin Care Solutions, Suddenly Slimmer, Princess House, Philippa’s Love Bites, Breathe Easy Yoga, Anastasia of Beverly Hills and DistinctivelyDiva.com. Register online at www.ubersingledom.com or call 310-402-8888 for more information.

“Being beautiful, accomplished, loving, funny and adored by others is a wonderful experience. To toss it all aside because your soul mate hasn’t arrived is a waste of a fantastic life,” says Chase. “It’s time women stop kissing frogs and start leaping into their life. The brunch on February 19th is the perfect lily pad from which to start.”

The workshop covers practical techniques that Chase uses with women every day to jumpstart them back into LIVING life.
