Building an online Artisan Community, not just another online Catalog.

SAN JOSE, CA (PRWEB) February 15, 2006   -- PacificArtisans.net announces the launch of a totally new concept in bringing unique artisan works to the consumer – the Pacificartisans.net community.

Artisans create Works of personal expression. The Consumer wants to know who the Artisan is and why he/she created his/her Works. The Artisan wants to know how Consumers react to their Works

Research has shown that Artisan Crafts is a $10 Billion/ Yr. Industry and the overwhelming majority of Artisans do not want to build, maintain and update an e-commerce website. Retail revenue from these sites (Artisan’s own website) is typically less than 5% of their total sales

“We are creating a deep and interactive Community of Artisans and Consumers, not just another two dimensional tonnage based online catalog. If someone is going to buy unique and personally inspired Works, then they want to know the Artisan. It makes sense to use the tools of Community and broadband delivery to bring the Artisan and Consumer closer together," said Elliott Dahan, CEO of PacificArtisans.net

At the core of PacificArtisans.net is the “Featured Artisans” presentation which gives each Featured Artisan their own web page where they can present their biography, philosophy, and portfolio. Each Featured Artisan has his or her own Forum to encourage dialogue and interaction between the Artisan and Consumer. In the coming months, audio and video features will be added to bring the Artisan closer to the consumer.

“Research has shown that Artisan Crafts is a $10 Billion/ Yr. Industry and the overwhelming majority of Artisans do not want to build, maintain and update an e-commerce website. Retail revenue from these sites (Artisan’s own website) is typically less than 5% of their total sales,” Dahan added. “The time is right to bring the Artisans and Consumers together in an interactive and personal Community.”

Going forward, PacificArtisans.net will maximize both Broadband delivery of multimedia and enhanced Community features to bring the Consumer and the Artisan even closer together in real time.

The PacificArtisans.net Community at Launch consists of eight screened and personally selected Artisans in the areas of: painting, clay/ceramic, original prints, wood, folk art, fiber & fabric and home & garden. The PacificArtisans.net Community will expand to twelve Artisans by the end of February, adding areas such as: glass, metal and wine art.
