Business Meets Fundraising: Authors of The 100-Mile Walk Donate Book Profits to Boy Scouts of America in Honor of Fathers and Sons

Just in time for Valentine's Day, The 100-Mile Walk offers a book about a father and son coming together to discuss leadership. A portion of the book's sales between February 12 and 19, 2006, will be donated to the Boy Scouts of America, the nation's foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training.

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 15, 2006 -- Hearts may flow each Valentine’s Day, but The 100-Mile Walk, a new business book about the hearts of a father-son team coming together in a quest to learn the essence of leadership, is bound to endure long after. In honor of the special connection between fathers and sons, the authors, Sander and Jonathon Flaum, have chosen February 12-19, 2006 as a fundraising week to support the Boy Scouts of America.

“The idea for this book,” the Flaums say, “was for each man to walk 50 miles in the other's hiking boots while discussing leadership questions. Typical of the older and younger generations at work, we have a lot of differences, yet we need to find a way to blend, if we are going to get the work done. We believe supporting an organization like the Boys Scouts is an outward extension of this.”

For each The 100-Mile Walk book sold between February 12 and 19, the Flaums will donate $1.00 to the Boy Scouts of America, an organization dedicated to character development and values-based leadership training. Books may be ordered through Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com and the book’s web site, www.100milewalk.com.

About The Boy Scouts of America
Serving 4.5 million young people between 7 and 20 years of age with more than 300 councils throughout the United States and its territories, the Boy Scouts of America is the nation's foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training.

About The 100-Mile Walk
Dad, Sander Flaum, and son, Jonathon Flaum, started the 100-mile walk in the Blue Ridge Mountains, near Jonathon's home in Asheville, N.C. For about six months, they scoured the beaches in East Hampton and Southampton, strolled the streets of Midtown Manhattan and the French Quarter in New Orleans, golfed some of the father's favorite courses and hiked the Blue Ridge Mountains while discussing the topic. The 100-Mile Walk does not offer a complete melding of their management styles but a comparison of their similar and differing views. The 100-Mile Walk has already received positive reviews by the New York Times, Investor’s Business Daily, M World and Amazon.com. The book web site is www.100milewalk.com.

Sander Flaum (New York, NY), an expert in healthcare marketing, was named Man of the Year for the industry in 2002. Now CEO of Flaum Partners (http://www.flaumpartners.com/), he is former chairman of the advertising agency network Euro RSCG Life and founder of the Leadership Forum at Fordham Graduate School of Business. He has appeared on MSNBC, CNN, Bloomberg, and other TV networks.

Jonathon Flaum (Asheville, NC) is a speechwriter and coach for leaders and founder/CEO of WriteMind Communications (http://www.writemindcommunications.com/).
