Cyber Trademarks Gain Momentum as Companies See their Vulnerabilities

The Internet is the new battleground for both small and large businesses. Companies are now just waking up to the reality that their most valuable and cherished asset, their website URL, is literally unprotected.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) Feb 15, 2006 -- Imagine the shock and panic that a CEO would experience after receiving a "cease and desist" notice to shut down his or her website. "How can they do that? We own the URL name!" says the panic stricken executive now in fear of what his Board of Directors will say when they hear the unpleasant news!

Las Vegas trademark attorney, Kevin Snyder of Kevin Snyder & Associates, is getting panic calls almost daily from company owners, many of them small businesses, saying they received just such a notice to stop using their website name, even though they bought and paid for the URL address! Snyder says, "People think owning the URL protects its use by them but nothing could be further from the truth!" That website name may, and more often then not does, infringe on another company's trademark.

Snyder says, "The Internet is fast becoming the main economic battleground for e-commerce and most CEO's haven't invested money to clear the name of their valued website nor invested a few more dollars more to file for a registered trademark." The fact that nobody was using the name when they bought it means absolutely nothing. As few as one or two characters could have made it available for purchase and left the naive executive excited that the website name was secured.

In due time, the Internet will cause an explosion of Trademark activities, as CEO's learn just how vulnerable they are in the cyber market. "Similarly confusing" could be enough grounds for the owner of a registered Trademark to shut you down. In the world of intellectual property rights, "an ounce of protection could save you a pound of grief" says, attorney Snyder.

Those who visit the hi-tech, video based website of the Snyder law firm (www.TheSnyderLawFirm.com) are encouraged to take attorney Snyder up on his offer of a free phone consultation concerning their trademark law needs. To quote Kevin in the Home page introductory video, "We've been practicing Trademark law and civil litigation for nearly 10 years. During this time, our track record speaks for itself! We have been successful in securing registration on over 90% of the Trademark applications that we have prosecuted!"

The business of Trademark Law may not be the most exciting topic to be discussed on a website but attorney Snyder has certainly made it more personal by using streaming videos to talk face-to-face with visitors to his cyber office at www.TheSnyderLawFirm.com or view a free multimedia presentation on Intellectual Property at http://secure.webex.com/g2.asp?id=TB7ZBH5V .

For information about the site or to arrange an interview or Trademark consultation with attorney Snyder, please contact: Attorney Snyder at 702-289-4425 or email him at KevinSnyder-at-TheSnyderLawFirm.com
