In a continued show of support for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Greater North Jersey Chapter, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Inc. will once again provide all drinks, snacks and energy bars for the 2006 MS-100 Bike Tour.

Paramus, NJ (PRWEB) February 20, 2006 -- In a continued show of support for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Greater North Jersey Chapter, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Inc. will once again provide all drinks, snacks and energy bars for the 2006 MS-100 Bike Tour. There are seventeen BJ’s Wholesale Clubs in New Jersey.

Each rest stop along the 100 mile route will be stocked with products donated by BJ’s. Additionally, the leading wholesale club chain will provide all riders with a fanny pack filled with trial-sized health and beauty sundries needed for the overnight ride, including toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo and conditioner. Seven hundred riders are expected to participate in the Tour.

“This is our sixth year supporting the MS Bike Tour,” said Tom Gallagher, Zone Vice President and cyclist. “Our team, the BJ’s Wholesale Club Fearsome Force, includes riders from the home office and six different store locations, including Albany and Boston.” Last year, the Fearsome Force raised nearly $17,000 in support of the fight against MS, and was the 6th highest ranked fund-raising team.

The 2006 MS-100 Bike Tour is a two-day overnight event slated for Saturday, September 16 and Sunday, September 17th. Cyclists will ride through scenic back roads of Northern New Jersey. Online registration is currently open at www.njbnmss.org or call 201-967-5599 with any questions.

All proceeds from the Bike Tour will benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society by supporting its mission to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis, a chronic and often progressive and disabling disease of the central nervous system.

Furthermore, BJ’s Charitable Foundation (SM) has provided a generous grant to the Chapter’s Kids' Camp Weekend. This fun-filled weekend takes place once a year, and is geared to children who have a parent coping MS. Aside from playing sports, taking nature walks and enjoying the outdoors, kids get a chance to connect with other children who have a parent with MS. Trained staff help the children learn more about the disease, in an age appropriate program.

“Our Chapter is so grateful for BJ’s ongoing support,” said Stephanie Karlo, director of development for the Greater North Jersey Chapter of MS. “To come back year after year, with not only a team that continues to break its own fund-raising records, but the product support throughout the tour is phenomenal. And, their grant to Kids’ Camp Weekend puts lots of smiles on kids faces.”

MS usually strikes people in the prime of their lives, between the ages of 20 and 50. To date, there is no known cure for MS.
